A catheter is a tube that we can insert into a body vessel,duct or cavity.
We can leave catheters inside the body either temporary or permanently as an indwelling catheter. A permanently inserted catheter may be referred to as a permcath.
Indications of using a catheter includes drainage of urine from the urinary bladder, drainage of fluid collection in abdomen, drainage of urine from the kidney by percutaneous nephrostomy and administration of intravenous fluids, medication or parenteral nutrition with a peripheral venous catheter. ...
